Pakistan, once the world hockey powerhouse, which won the world cup for four times. but in the past two decades, it has been losing his recognition due to the continuous defeat and lowest performance. It is the alarming situation, that Pakistan hockey team, that clinched the world cup back in 1994 at Sydney, has failed to qualify for world cup stage in Hague, Netherlands in 2014.

Their performed was pathetic at the world cup of, that was held in Monchengladbach, Germany. The Pakistani team was placed pool A in 2006, but it could not manage a solitary win against Japan.

 Moreover, the world cup of 2010, that was held in Delhi, was considered as the worst ever performance by the Pakistani hockey team when they ended last in the 12-team contest.  In this world cup, team finished shocking bottom after the infrequent flat display throughout its stay in India.

In the hockey world cup of 2014, a 2-1 loss to south Korea in the semifinal of Asian cup in 2013 meant that Pakistan could not qualify for 2014 hockey world cup. This was the first time since the beginning of hockey team in 1971, when the men in green were misplaced. Despite of the enormous problems, Pakistani hockey team made efforts on the stage of Odisha to win but it was the half-done job.

After the extreme level bad performance of Pakistani hockey team, the chief selector was sounded to be confident regarding team’s show in Bhubaneswar. Currently, the men’s hockey world cup 2018 was held in Odisha with the top teams fighting it out in the primary phase. Pakistan has been eliminated from hockey world cup after losing their crossover stage match to Belgium by 5-0 in Bhubaneswar on Tuesday. For a country with such a brilliant performance in the history of hockey and with a great fan following is continuously going down. There is only a need  to put more efforts for the solid performance against different team around the globe.
